mission
mixtamotus serves as the artistic research laboratory of kNOwBOX dance’s Dance Think Tank model. Through collaborative, process-driven creation, we investigate how choreography evolves across platforms — from stage to screen to site-specific and digital environments.
We prototype new forms, test interdisciplinary ideas, and generate embodied research that informs contemporary performance, dance film, and expanded audience engagement.
vision
We envision a future where choreography is not confined to a single medium, but moves fluidly between live performance, cinematic space, and technological innovation — honoring dance’s embodied history while expanding its reach and relevance.
what we do
• Develop original choreographic works for camera and stage
• Collaborate with composers, filmmakers, and interdisciplinary artists
• Pilot experimental performance formats
• Inform kNOwBOX dance programming through research-based creation
• Explore ethical integration of digital tools in dance
about
mixtamotus is a movement research collective co-founded by Martheya Nygaard Scott and Reyna Mondragon.
Built as the artistic laboratory of kNOwBOX dance, mixtamotus explores how choreography evolves across stage, screen, and emerging platforms.

We develop interdisciplinary work at the intersection of dance, film, music, and technology — treating choreography as research, not just product.

mixtamotus began with a shared question:
What happens when choreography is treated as research rather than product?
It remains a space for experimentation, collaboration, and embodied inquiry.
