Dance Playground is a donation-based contemporary dance workshop series co-taught by Martheya Nygaard and Reyna Mondragon the Artistic Directors of mixtamotus. In these eight, 90-minute sessions at the Sammons Center for the Arts participants will explore contemporary dance techniques, challenge one’s movement patterns, and engage with the rhythms that exist in and outside of the body.
Each workshop begins with a more traditional stretch and strengthening warm-up before exploring the unfamiliar. Dance Playground guides participants through a movement experience that challenges movers to expand their awareness and appreciation for the beauty of dance and share new possibilities of how to generate movement. Participants are invited to think outside of the box. Recommended participants are adults 18+ with previous movement experience.
